Crown Gear Shift Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Toyota Crown hybrid is experiencing a gear shift indicator fault, where the selected gear sometimes doesn't display, and the transmission occasionally slips with grinding noises. The issue also triggers an error memory. A similar problem was resolved by replacing a defective control unit, which is suggested as a likely solution. The vehicle is scheduled for a workshop visit to address the issue, with an estimated repair cost of around 1000€.

Yeah, it's more than just the display. Sometimes it feels like it's not fully engaging. Is that what you experienced?

Exactly that. Implausible shifting behavior is the perfect way to describe it. I'd suggest getting it checked out. In my case, the defective control unit was at fault.

Thanks. I appreciate the input. It's going to the workshop next week. Looks like the control unit needs replacing. Quoted around 1000€. Shame about the expense but at least I know what's up.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Crown. Was the gear selector acting up as well, or just the display?
