Crown key fob battery warning

Has anyone else run into this? I've got a 2019 Toyota Crown hybrid, and suddenly my key is throwing a 'low battery' warning. Keyless entry is kaput, the car's throwing an error code, and I'm wrestling with the doors like it's 1995. Only 70217 km on the clock – seriously?

I also own a Crown, though I won't mention which year, and I experienced similar issues. Did you attempt to change the battery?

Good question! No, not yet. Before dismantling the key fob, I was wondering if this is a common issue, or something else entirely. So, with your Crown, was it just the battery?

In my case, replacing the battery resolved the issue. However, since an error code is stored, visiting a workshop might be advisable to ensure there are no underlying electrical problems.

Replaced the battery – cost me a whopping 37€ – and all's well again. Still seems premature for a dead key battery, but hey, easy fix is a good fix!
