Crown Oxygen Sensor Heater Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Toyota Crown hybrid with 21,872 km has a check engine light indicating an oxygen sensor heater failure, accompanied by increased fuel consumption. The issue may stem from a defective cable or plug connection to the oxygen sensor, rather than the sensor itself. It is recommended to inspect the cable and plug connection and consult a workshop for sensor testing and repairs.

Thanks! So you are saying it was the cable and plug connection, and not the sensor itself? Was the check engine light on as well?

Affirmative! My symptoms align with yours, and the root cause was a defective cable connection. But I am no car expert; I'd strongly recommend sensor testing and taking it to a workshop. It is likely the same issue, but better safe than sorry! Cost me about 95€ to sort out, if that's any help. Just thinking about the exhaust system makes my hair stand on end.

Thanks a lot for the tip and sharing your experience! I checked the cable, it looked ok, and took it to the workshop. Indeed, cable or plug connection of the component defective, as you pointed out. Getting it fixed, should be ready to go tomorrow.

Ugh, sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Crown. Check the cable and plug connection to the O2 sensor itself first. In my case, that's what was defective. The air-fuel ratio can go haywire with those sensors!
