Crown Serpentine Belt Handover Issue

I'm writing about a potential issue with my 2019 Toyota Crown hybrid (73208 km). The serpentine belt handover isn't working as expected. I think the belt bringer/handover itself is the problem. Has anyone else seen this?

Hey! I had a similar problem with my Crown. By 'belt handover,' do you mean when the system automatically adjusts the belt tension? If so, it could be the tensioner pulley. When mine went, the whole belt drive system acted up. How's the engine performance otherwise? Any weird noises from the belt area?

Thanks! Yes, 'belt handover' is the automatic belt tension adjustment. Engine performance seems normal, and I haven't noticed any unusual noises. Could you elaborate on the symptoms you experienced with your tensioner pulley?

Okay, got it. Mine started with a wobble in the pulley you could see when the engine was running. Eventually, the belt started squealing, especially on cold starts. Since you're not hearing noises yet, it might be an early stage failure. Honestly, with these modern cars and their fancy belt systems, you're probably best off taking it to a workshop. A bad tensioner can cause serious damage if the belt snaps.

I appreciate the advice. Given the potential complications, I'll schedule an appointment with a workshop to have the tensioner pulley inspected and replaced. The estimated repair cost is 455€.
