Crown Victoria Electrical and Navigation Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Ford Crown Victoria is experiencing a general electrical malfunction and non-functional navigation system, suspected to be due to faulty control unit programming. Potential causes include ECU problems or a voltage spike, though the latter is less likely without additional issues. A software bug is considered a probable cause, and a professional shop visit is recommended for diagnosis and repair.

No recent work or battery changes. Could a voltage spike corrupt the control module? Can I reset the ECU without special tools?

Voltage spike could do it, but unlikely without other issues. Resetting without tools is a gamble. The software bug theory is likely correct given the symptoms. Best bet is a shop visit.

Thanks. I have an appointment with a shop to fix it. It should cost around 240€. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like ECU problems. Any recent work done on the car before this started? Battery been disconnected or replaced?
