Crown Victoria mirror heating issue
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Ford Crown Victoria is experiencing an issue with its mirror heating system, which isn't functioning despite cold conditions. Diagnostic scans indicate a system error, leading to speculation about a faulty cable or plug. Suggestions include checking the ambient temperature sensor and the heater element for continuity, with a recommendation to visit a workshop for a thorough electronic diagnosis.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't checked the heater element yet. When you say temperature control unit, do you mean the ambient temperature sensor that controls the mirror heating, or something else?

Yeah, I mean the ambient temperature sensor. It could be the heater element, but the error code and no heat at all makes me think it's a sensor or wiring problem. Honestly, I'd recommend a workshop visit to properly diagnose the car electronics.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I'm going to book an appointment at a workshop. Looks like it'll cost around 95€ to fix.

I had a similar problem with my Crown Vic. Is the temperature control unit functioning correctly? Have you checked the heater element itself for continuity?
