Cruze Belt Tensioner Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Chevrolet Cruze owner is experiencing issues with the belt tensioner, suspected to be faulty as it fails to maintain proper belt movement, causing a chirping noise. This problem is likely due to the tensioner pulley not keeping the belt tight enough, leading to slippage. The suggested solution is to have the tensioner checked and potentially replaced by a professional to resolve the issue.

Yeah, that's exactly it! Bird chirping is spot on. What do you mean by the tensioner pulley, though? Is that the defective belt bringer/handover I suspected?

Could be. I'm no expert. But yeah, the tensioner pulley keeps tension on the belt, and if it's weak, the belt slips. Best get it checked professionally. I ended up paying 455€ to get mine fixed.

Thanks. Sounds like I'm headed to the workshop. At least I have an idea what to expect. Appreciate the help!

Cruze owner here, too. Had a similar belt squeal problem a while back. Is it making a racket, like a bird chirping under the hood, especially when you first start it up? It could be the tensioner pulley not keeping the belt tight enough.
