Cruze engine stalls at idle
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Chevrolet Cruze experiences engine stalling at idle, with a check engine light indicating a fault. The issue is suspected to be related to a bad idle air control (IAC) valve, potentially caused by a heavily contaminated intake with carbon buildup. The suggested solution is to have the IAC valve and intake checked and cleaned at a workshop. Upon inspection, the IAC valve was indeed faulty due to contamination, confirming the initial suspicion.

Thanks for your reply. The idle speed seems normal sometimes, but then it drops suddenly just before stalling. I think the intake is heavily contaminated with carbon buildup.

Okay, that sounds very similar to what I experienced. Considering the carbon buildup you observed, it's likely the IAC valve is failing due to the contamination. I suggest taking it to a workshop, they will check the idle control and air valve.

You were right on the money! Took it to a shop, and it turned out the idle air control valve was faulty due to a heavily contaminated intake, as we suspected. Repair cost 425€ Thanks for your advice!

I had a similar issue with my Cruze. Have you noticed if the idle speed is consistently low, or does it fluctuate before stalling? Was the intake heavily contaminated?
