I used a multimeter to test the voltage and visually checked for corrosion and damaged wires. Given your symptoms and the error code, a bad connection is likely. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop; it could be a quick fix.

Appreciate the advice. The local mechanic confirmed a defective fuel filter heater cable on the Cruze. Repairing the connection cost 95€. The car runs normally now.

I had similar issues with my 2014 Opel Astra diesel: error messages, limp mode, rough idle. Have you checked the voltage at the fuel filter heater connector? A bad connection there could definitely cause those problems.
