Summary of the thread
A 2014 Chevrolet Cruze diesel is experiencing overheating issues, suspected to be due to a malfunctioning electric fan. It only overheats while idling. So, I'm right in suspecting the electric fan, right? Anything I can test myself before taking it in?

Sounds like the electric fan circuit then. You can try checking the fuse first. It's usually in the under-hood fuse box. Aside from that, you're probably best off getting it checked out. Replacing fan motors can be tricky depending on the assembly.

Thanks for the advice. Turned out to be a faulty plug connection as suspected. Workshop fixed it up for 95€.

Overheating on a Cruze is no fun! Has the radiator fan been running at all? Even intermittently? And does it only overheat while idling or also at higher speeds? Because if it only overheats while idling, then yeah, the electric fan is likely the culprit. If it overheats at all speeds, it could be the thermostat or even the water pump.
