CRV cold start issue
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Honda CR-V with a diesel engine is experiencing poor engine performance during cold starts and increased fuel consumption. An error code related to the PTC heater was found, suggesting it may be the cause of these issues. A faulty electric auxiliary heater can affect the initial heat-up phase, leading to these symptoms. The suggested solution is to have the PTC heater checked and repaired, which could resolve the cold start problems and improve fuel efficiency.

That's an interesting question! The blower motor seems to work fine, and temperature control appears normal after the engine warms up a bit. But during those initial cold start minutes, it's definitely struggling. Could a faulty PTC heater only affect the initial heat-up phase?

Yep, sounds like the PTC heater to me. Mine was doing the exact same thing. The bill was around 350€. I mean, you could try diagnosing it yourself, but honestly, it might be worth just taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for confirming! That's helpful. I suspected as much, so I've booked it in for a check-up and repair. Seems like a defective electric auxiliary heater is the likely culprit, as you suggested. Hopefully, that resolves the cold start issues and improves fuel consumption again.

Hey, I had something similar in my CR-V, though it's a newer model. Was the heat not working properly? Like, blowing cold air even when it's set to hot?
