CRV Transfer Case Limp Mode
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Honda CR-V with a hybrid engine was experiencing issues with the transfer case in limp mode, causing the gearbox to slip and shift poorly. The initial suspicion was that ABS faults might be the cause. After a diagnostic check at a certified workshop, it was confirmed that the ABS system was indeed the primary cause of the problem. The issue was resolved under warranty, with no repair cost incurred.

Thanks! Yes, the powertrain malfunction indicator is on. Could you elaborate on your experience and confirm if the torque converter was involved?

In my case, the ABS system was the culprit, like you suspected. A consequential fault was causing the transfer case issue. I'd recommend a thorough diagnostic check at a qualified workshop.

I appreciate the insight. I had it inspected at a certified workshop, and the ABS system was indeed the primary cause. After the repair under warranty, the issues are resolved. The repair cost was 0€. Thanks again!

I had a similar issue with my CR-V. Any chance you have traction control or powertrain malfunction lights on? Also check fault codes related to the torque converter; that could cause weird transmission behavior.
