CT200h AC failure

Alright Lexus gurus, I've got a head-scratcher. My 2012 CT200h hybrid, with 234032 km on the clock, is throwing me for a loop. The air conditioning has completely given up the ghost. I'm getting an error code, the AC doesn't cool at all, the system won't even switch on, and the warning light is glaring at me from the speedometer. My initial diagnostics are pointing towards a refrigerant compressor failure, potentially triggered by a defective air conditioning control unit. Sound about right? Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Lexus CT200h experienced a complete air conditioning failure, with the system not cooling or switching on and displaying a warning light. Initial diagnostics suggested a refrigerant compressor failure, possibly due to a defective air conditioning control unit. After checking refrigerant pressure and ruling out a leak, it was confirmed that the control unit was defective, leading to compressor failure. The issue was resolved by replacing the faulty components, restoring the air conditioning functionality.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. I had a very similar issue with my CT200h – though I can't remember the exact error code. AC just quit. Did you happen to check the refrigerant pressure? Is it possible you have a leak somewhere?

Good shout on the refrigerant pressure! I did check it, and it seems okay, it did not seem like a leak. But how similar was your issue, really? Did yours also refuse to switch on entirely, like mine?

Yeah, mine wouldn't switch on at all. Compressor dead as a doornail. Honestly, based on your symptoms and the fact you've already checked the pressure, I'd bite the bullet and take it to a workshop that knows hybrids. They'll be able to properly diagnose the AC control unit and compressor.

Thanks for confirming that. I took it to a trusted mechanic. Turns out my air conditioning control unit was indeed defective, leading to compressor failure, just like you suspected. The repair set me back 980€, but at least I have ice-cold air again! Appreciate the help.
