CT200h Communication Fault

My 2014 CT200h hybrid is throwing a CEL, overheating, and leaking coolant. I'm getting a control unit communication error. I've checked fuses, coolant level, and wiring. Suspecting a data link issue, maybe CAN bus? Only at 33725 km. Anyone seen anything like this before?

Sounds rough. I had something similar on my old Volvo V60. Check Engine Light, overheating... turned out to be a faulty connection to one of the control modules. Is the error code specific? I was getting a P0606 error – Internal Control Module Processor Fault. Has the car's computer been remapped?

Cheers for the reply! The error code is a bit vague, something about 'communication fault'. No remap or anything aftermarket installed, the car is completely stock. Where was the faulty connection on your Volvo? Was it obvious or did you need to trace wires?

Mine was a corroded plug on the ECU itself. Not super obvious, but once I started poking around I could see some green gunk. Those kinds of gremlins are a nightmare. Best bet is probably a decent workshop with the right diagnostic gear to pinpoint the exact break in the CAN-BUS. Good luck!

I took her into the shop as you suggested. Turns out it was indeed a dodgy plug connection, thankfully on something easily accessible. They cleaned it up, re-seated everything, and cleared the codes. 95€ and she's back on the road. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
