CT200h Overheating Electric Fan Issue

My 2017 Lexus CT200h hybrid seems to be overheating. After some checks, I suspect the electric fan. My car has 142819 km on the clock. Has anyone else encountered something similar? What steps did you take to diagnose the problem further? Could it simply be a faulty cable or plug connection?

Hey there! I also drive a CT200h, and your overheating issue sounds familiar. A while back, I noticed my temperature gauge creeping higher than usual, especially in stop-and-go traffic. I didn't immediately think of the electric fan, but after some digging, I found that it wasn't kicking on when it should. Do you hear the fan running at all, even when the engine is hot?

Thanks for the quick response! That's really helpful. No, I don't hear the fan running at all, which is why I suspect it. When you say 'digging,' could you elaborate a bit? Did you manage to fix the issue by yourself, or did you end up taking it to a professional?

My 'digging' mostly involved asking around and reading forum posts, like this one! Honestly, I'm not the most mechanically inclined, so I ended up taking it to a workshop. They quickly diagnosed it as a faulty connection – the cable or plug, as you suspected. Given that we have the same symptoms, yours might be the same. I'd advise getting it checked out; a small cable issue can cause big problems if left unattended.

Alright, that sounds like the most reasonable course of action. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It's genuinely reassuring to know someone else faced a similar hurdle. I'll book an appointment with my local shop and mention the potential cable/plug issue. They quoted me 95€ to fix. Thanks again!
