CT200h Turbo Actuator Issue

My 2020 Lexus CT200h hybrid has a check engine light, reduced power, whistling/hissing sounds on acceleration, and stalls at idle around 200391 km. Fuel consumption is also up. I suspect the boost pressure actuator. Any ideas?

That sounds frustrating! I had a similar experience with my old Volvo. The symptoms you describe – the whistling, the power loss – they’re all too familiar. In my case, it ended up being a defective pressure sensor causing the turbo to act erratically. Has anyone checked the sensor readings? Are they within the acceptable range when the engine is under load?

Thanks for sharing. Could you elaborate on the 'acceptable range' for the pressure sensor readings? I'm trying to get as much info as possible before taking it to a shop.

The readings were consistently outside the norm, spiking erratically under load. It seems like you have a similar issue. Given the complexity and the hybrid system, I would recommend consulting a qualified mechanic. It sounds like the electrical bypass valve is faulty. I did some tests on my Volvo following the mechanic's indications and I was able to pinpoint this issue. However, since you mention an actuator fault, it is likely you will have to replace the turbo actuator. Take it to the shop, it's better to be safe than sorry.

I took it to a reputable workshop. As you guessed, the issue was a defective electrical bypass valve, requiring the turbo actuator to be replaced. The repair cost 250€.
