Cube belt handover failure
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Nissan Cube diesel with 226,319 km is experiencing a belt-handover failure, leading to a persistent belt squeal and reduced engine performance. The issue is suspected to be with the belt bringer/handover mechanism. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a seized belt tensioner, which was confirmed as the cause in this case. The solution involved replacing the faulty tensioner at a workshop, resolving the noise and performance issues.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, it's definitely the serpentine belt. You mentioned the tensioner - what exactly did you notice on your Peugeot? Was it visibly damaged or just not moving correctly?

On the Peugeot, the tensioner arm was completely frozen solid. Couldn't budge it even with a breaker bar! It wasn't visibly broken, but the bearing inside was shot. Honestly, save yourself the headache and take it to a workshop. If it's the tensioner, it's a pretty straightforward job for them.

You were spot on! Took it to the workshop, and the belt tensioner was indeed the culprit. 455€ later, it's all sorted. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it!

Oh, I feel your pain! I had almost the exact same thing happen with my old Peugeot 308. Constant belt squeal, and then bam, engine performance just tanked. We are talking serpentine belt here, right? Have you had a look at the belt tensioner itself? Is it moving freely or seized up?
