Cube Oil Temperature Sensor Issue

I've got a 2016 Nissan Cube with a diesel engine and I'm running into a weird issue. My engine oil temperature sensor seems to be acting up. I'm getting a warning light, and when I hooked it up to a reader, it's throwing an error related to the oil temperature. Also, the oil pressure warning lamp occasionally lights up. I've checked the oil level and it's fine. I'm thinking it might be a faulty connection, maybe a cable or plug issue with the sensor itself. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their Cube?

It does sound like a sensor issue, particularly if the oil level is correct. The symptoms you describe (warning light, error code, intermittent oil pressure lamp) point towards a possible electrical fault in the sensor circuit. Have you checked the wiring harness and connector for any visible damage or corrosion? Even a small amount of corrosion can cause a bad reading.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did give the wiring a quick look, but didn't see anything obvious. Where exactly is the oil temperature sensor located on the Cube's diesel engine? Knowing where to look might help me spot a loose connection or damaged wire I missed the first time around.

Unfortunately, without the specific engine code I can't pinpoint the exact location, but it's typically near the oil filter or oil pan. Given your troubleshooting and the symptoms, the issue is most likely with the sensor or its wiring. I would recommend taking it to a workshop for a professional diagnosis. They can properly test the sensor and wiring to confirm the fault.

Alright, I appreciate the advice! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on. Turns out it was a corroded connector on the oil temperature sensor. They cleaned it up and replaced a small section of damaged wire. Cost me 95€, all in. Warning lights are gone, and the error code is cleared. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
