Dacia Dokker 2018: Start-up Failures, Fuel Economy Issues, and Erratic Warning Light

Hey there! I've got a 2018 Dacia Dokker, petrol engine with about 140,778 KM on the clock. Lately, it’s been giving me some worries. The darn thing won't kick start, the fuel economy's shot, and I've got this pesky warning light on speedometer playing hide n’ seek. Not to mention, the lights keep dimming and flickering, driving me nuts! Now, I've had a pretty sour run-in with my last mechanic, and my gut tells me this might be something with the start-stop system. Wonder if any of you fine with the same ride faced anything similar and what was your experience with your mechanic like? Cheers!

Hey! Sounds like an eerily similar problem I had with my 2015 Dacia Logan. Try not to sweat it too much, it might not be as bad as you think. My car was driving me batty too with dimming lights and all. Couldn't start on the first crank, felt like it was sipping extra fuel, and the dashboard was lit up like a Christmas tree! After running around in circles, I figured it might be the battery causing the fuss. Took the old girl down to my local garage. They whipped out a multimeter for a quick test, turns out my suspicions were bang-on; the battery was weak and defective. The start-stop system was trying to work with a battery that just wasn't giving it the gas, figuratively speaking. Replacing the battery was the obvious fix. Make sure the new battery suits your Dokker's spec to avoid reliving this headache. Flickering lights, cranky starts, even the unusual warning light - it all cleared up like magic! Just remember, it’s always good to get a second opinion and never be shy to ask for tests for assurance. No need to panic, could well be a simple fix like mine. Cheers to you!

Hey there! Your battery tip saved me a fair bit of bother. I'd have never guessed... turns out, that was exactly my Dacia Dokker's issue! Swapped in a new battery and it runs like a dream. Btw, I can't quite recall, what'd you shell out for the fix? And any other gremlins since the battery change? Cheers for everything!

Hey! So glad to hear your ride is purring again, those battery issues can be a real pain. For me, the damage wasn't too bad, it came up to around 290€ to replace that tired old battery. And to answer your other question, since I rolled out of that garage, my Dokker's been a dream! Nada, zip, zero issues. That annoying engine start-stop system error that was bugging me? Yeah, that's history! I haven't had a single problem with it since the swap. Basically, it was like curing all the car's ailments with one simple fix. Remember though, keep up with your regular maintenance to dodge any other surprises. Happy driving!

you're a lifesaver! Good to hear your Dokker has been running smoothly ever since. At 290€, it's a hard pill to swallow, but beats having a car that plays tricks on you. Just wanted to say a big thanks for sharing that piece of advice, really helped me out. It's been a frightening situation on the road with all these issues, but everything's sorted now, thankfully! Absolutely, maintenance is key. I've definitely learned my lesson. Thanks again. Safe driving to you too! Cheers!
