Dacia Lodgy 2020 Exhibiting Drop in Power, Reduced Gas Mileage and Unusual Engine Behaviour
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Dacia Lodgy is experiencing issues such as shaky idling, reduced power, poor gas mileage, an engine light, and a bad exhaust smell. These symptoms suggest a potential problem with the fuel injectors, which may be faulty or require cleaning or replacement. The recommended solution is to have a professional mechanic inspect and address the issue, as resolving it could improve engine performance and fuel efficiency.

Hey there, Your response rings all too familiar. Shaky idling and power loss are frustrating, but the rotten egg smell is a plot twist I never saw coming, haha. Your hunch about the injectors sounds plausible. Did those dodgy injectors end up giving you a hefty bill or was it manageable? And now that they're replaced, has your Duster put up any new fuss or is it behaving itself? Thanks for sharing your experience, really helps to have some insight from a fellow driver before I take her in. Cheers.

Hey there again, Glad my previous experiences could provide some insight. The defective injectors indeed put a bit of a dent in my wallet, ended up costing 515€. A bit steep, but boy, did it make a difference. Since getting it sorted, my Duster's been behaving like a dream, no new tantrums or nonsense. The rough engine running was put to bed and let me tell you, the relief was well worth the cost. I'd say getting that issue resolved should be your next move, even if it means shelling out some €€. In the long run, it should save you more issues (and money) down the line. Just make sure you find a reliable mechanic who won't take you for a ride. Best of luck with your Lodgy, fella. Let us know how it goes! Cheers!

Hey! Thanks for offering your experience as a roadmap! Your words truly stroke a chord. The cost is a bit of a gulp moment but I'm drawing comfort from the fact that an efficient engine awaits on the other side of this ordeal. I'll waste no time getting my Lodgy to the garage. After all, she deserves some TLC after carting me about all these years. In retrospect, I realise that I've been spending more on fuel than I usually do. So, it's about time I addressed the root cause. I'll be sure to update you all about the situation once she's back from the shop. Your advice was immensely helpful. Appreciate it! Cheers!

Hey! Your situation sounds quite similar to what I experienced with my 2017 Dacia Duster a while ago. Same symptoms: shaky idling, drop in power, drop in fuel efficiency, that pesky engine light and even the rotten egg smell. After a self-diagnosis, my suspicion leaned heavily towards a fault in the injectors. Turns out, it was exactly that. The garage confirmed that a couple of injectors were defective. They needed to be cleaned at first but eventually, they had to be replaced as they were beyond repair. Keep in mind, it was a serious issue affecting the overall performance of the car, not something you'd want to ignore for a long period. In a nutshell, don't panic but do get it checked. From my experience, it sounds like a potential injector issue. But remember you'll never know until a professional takes a look. Hope this helps. Cheerio.
