Dead Amarok Fan: Blower System Failure & Solutions

My 2019 Amarok stopped blowing any air through the vents recently. The fan seems completely dead, no response from any speed setting. Already checked the basic fuses but found nothing obvious. The climate control display works fine, just no air movement. Since reading about similar issues, I suspect it could be related to the auto recirculation system or a cabin air sensor fault. Has anyone here dealt with this specific problem? Mainly interested in confirmed fixes and what diagnostic steps your shop took to solve it. Would help to know the repair costs too, just to get a rough idea what to expect.

I had this exact issue with my 2017 Volkswagen Atlas, and I have some experience working on basic HVAC problems. The symptoms were identical, climate control display working but no airflow. Initially thought it was just a blown fuse like you did. After checking the obvious things, I took it to my regular workshop where they diagnosed a faulty air quality sensor and damaged wiring connection to the blower motor. The auto recirculation system was getting incorrect signals, causing the whole HVAC system to malfunction. The repair involved replacing the connection and recalibrating the air conditioning sensor. Total cost was 95€ for parts and labor. The fix took about an hour and has worked perfectly since then. To help diagnose your specific case more accurately, could you share: Does the issue happen all the time or intermittently? Are there any unusual sounds when you try to activate the fan? When was the last time your cabin air filter was changed? Does the auto recirculation button respond when pressed? These details would help determine if your issue is similar to what I experienced or if it might be something else.

Last service was at 50000km, so this started happening quite recently. The issue is constant, no intermittent behavior. The blower is completely silent when trying any setting. The cabin filter was replaced during the last service, and I have not noticed any odd sounds before the complete failure. Interestingly, there is a slight click sound from the auto recirculation button area when pressed, but the indicator light stays off. The odor sensor might also be involved since I noticed the auto mode was acting strangely in the weeks before the complete failure. I will get it checked at the shop next week. Your repair costs sound reasonable, hoping mine will be in a similar range if it is indeed just the air quality sensor or related wiring.

Thanks for those additional details about your Amarok. Your symptoms sound nearly identical to what I experienced with my Atlas, especially that clicking sound from the recirculation button with no light response. That was exactly how mine acted before the complete failure. The fact that your auto mode was behaving erratically before the full breakdown strongly suggests an HVAC sensor issue, likely the air quality module. The climate control system often defaults to a safety mode when it receives faulty signals from these sensors. In my case, the clicking without the indicator light was directly related to corroded wiring connections near the AUC sensor. The early warning signs you mentioned about strange auto mode behavior match perfectly with what I experienced. The repair should be straightforward for a qualified shop. Since your symptoms so closely match my experience, you will likely be looking at similar repair costs around 95€, assuming no additional complications are found. Just make sure to mention these specific symptoms to the technician: The erratic auto mode behavior before failure, The clicking sound without indicator response, The complete loss of blower function, The timing relative to your last service This will help them zero in on the likely culprit rather than spending time testing other components.

The symptoms you described match my problem exactly, especially regarding the auto recirculation button behavior and clicking sound. Having the same early warning signs with erratic auto mode operation is quite revealing. Based on these similarities, I feel more confident about the potential fix now. A faulty AUC sensor combined with wiring issues makes perfect sense given all the symptoms. The climate control system probably went into a safety mode after receiving incorrect signals from the compromised air quality sensors. The repair cost estimate around 95€ seems reasonable. I have already made an appointment for next week and will definitely mention: Erratic auto mode before complete failure, Click sound from recirculation button without light, No blower function, Recent 50000km service timing Thanks for sharing your experience. It helped narrow down the likely cause and gave me a better idea of what to expect for the repair. Will update once the shop confirms the diagnosis.
