Dead Massage Chair Switch in RS3 Needs Repair Fix

The massage chair in my 2022 RS3 stopped working entirely. The switch seems unresponsive, and my scan tool shows an error code stored. Anyone dealt with similar seat switch failures in their luxury car? Car has 61104km and runs on gas. Wondering if this is a common electrical issue and what repair costs I should expect before heading to a shop. Looking for recommendations based on your experiences.

Had the same electrical issue with the massage seat function in my 2019 S4. The massage setting completely died without warning. The problem turned out to be a loose connection between the seat control module and the main wiring harness. When the automotive seats were scanned, it showed multiple communication errors between components. The root cause was corrosion on the connector pins under the seat, which developed over time from normal use. The repair involved removing the seat base, cleaning the connectors, and replacing a damaged section of the wiring harness. This was not a major mechanical problem, but it required specialized diagnostic equipment to properly identify the fault in the massage system. For reference, this type of car upholstery removal and electrical repair typically takes 2-3 hours of labor. Worth checking the connection points first, as sometimes simply reseating the connectors can resolve the issue. However, if corrosion is present like in my case, proper repair by a qualified technician is necessary. Most important to address this promptly, as continuing to use faulty electrical components can potentially damage other connected systems in modern luxury vehicles.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the massage seat repair. Really helpful since my RS3 is showing similar symptoms with the seat motor and wiring issues. Quick question, any chance you remember the total repair cost? Also curious if youve had any other electrical gremlins pop up since getting it fixed? My massage setting is still completely dead and Id like to budget properly before taking it in.

Really glad I could help with the massage seat situation. Since taking my S4 to the mechanic last month, the automotive seats have been working perfectly, no more issues with the massage setting or any other electrical problems. The total repair cost came to 95 Euro for fixing the faulty cable connection. The car upholstery didnt need any major work, just careful access to reach the wiring. The seat switch has been responding perfectly since the repair, and the massage function works like new. Worth mentioning that once they found the specific connector issue, the fix was pretty straightforward. No other electrical problems have surfaced since then. Getting it addressed quickly probably prevented any cascade issues with other seat components. The diagnostic equipment they used pinpointed the exact connection problem, saving time on unnecessary parts replacement.

I took my RS3 to the shop yesterday after reading about your experience. You were spot on, it was indeed an electrical issue with the seat switch system. The mechanic found corroded connectors under the automotive seats, similar to your situation. The diagnostic scan revealed problems with the massage chair control module communication. They had to partially remove the car upholstery to access the wiring harness. Total repair came to 120 Euro, slightly more than yours but still reasonable considering the specialized work involved. Whole process took about 2 hours and the massage function is now working perfectly again. No other electrical issues were found during the inspection. Really glad I addressed this quickly before it could affect other systems. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it helped me know exactly what to expect at the shop.
