Dead Radio & Signal Issues in Suzuki Wagon R

Recently my Suzuki Wagon R started acting up with the infotainment system. The audio is completely dead and theres a persistent error message showing up. The mechanic scanned it and confirmed theres an error code stored, but my last experience with them wasnt great. The poor signal issue started gradually, and now the FM signal is completely gone. The vehicle electronics seem otherwise normal. Could this be related to the antenna ground or something simpler? Its a 2023 model with 112968 km on the clock. Has anyone dealt with similar radio interference problems? Looking for recommendations before I take it back to a shop.

My Suzuki Swift Sport had nearly identical symptoms last year. The static noise started gradually, then complete signal loss occurred. The vehicle electronics scan revealed a defective antenna amplifier module, which also triggered the infotainment error message. The root cause was moisture damage to the antenna booster unit mounted under the rear window. Poor signal strength can sometimes be mistaken for a simple loose connection, but in this case the amplifier module needed complete replacement. The repair involved: Removing interior trim panels, Testing ground connections, Replacing the antenna amplifier unit, Reprogramming the infotainment module This was more than a basic repair but not a severe mechanical issue. The system worked flawlessly after replacement, with full signal restoration across all bands. Worth noting that water ingress is a common failure point for these antenna systems. Having the technician check the seals around the antenna base while accessing the components is recommended.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the antenna booster repair. The symptoms definitely match what I am experiencing with my Wagon R car radio. Knowing it was moisture related in your case gives me a good starting point. Did you remember approximately how much the complete repair ended up costing? Also curious if youve had any recurring static noise or signal strength issues since the fix was done? I want to make sure I budget correctly for this repair and ensure it fully resolves the vehicle electronics problems the first time around.

After getting the antenna amplifier replaced at the shop, I can confirm the car radio works perfectly now with zero FM signal issues. The repair completely solved the static noise and poor reception that was plaguing my Swift Sport. The signal strength is consistently strong across all frequencies, and I havent experienced any radio interference since. The total repair cost came to 255€, which included parts, labor, and the needed reprogramming of the infotainment system. While not exactly cheap, having reliable radio reception again made it worthwhile. The vehicle electronics have all been functioning normally, with no error messages or other problems appearing after the fix. For your Wagon R, since the symptoms match so closely, I would expect similar repair costs and equally good results once they address the defective antenna components. The investment should give you back full functionality of your infotainment system.

I took my Wagon R to a reputable shop today based on the feedback about the antenna booster issue. The diagnosis matched exactly what was described, moisture had damaged the antenna amplifier module. The FM signal problems and error messages were identical to the Swift Sport case. The repair cost came to 280€, slightly more than expected but reasonable given the work involved. The technician showed me the corroded unit after removal and explained how water infiltration had caused the signal degradation over time. They also sealed the antenna base properly to prevent future moisture issues. After the repair, the car radio works perfectly again. The vehicle electronics are all functioning normally, and the reception is crystal clear with strong FM signal across all stations. No more error messages or static noise. Really glad I got this sorted instead of trying cheaper fixes that might not have solved the root cause. For anyone else facing similar issues, definitely worth checking the antenna ground and amplifier components first rather than assuming its just a loose connection or basic interference problem.
