Dead Wipers on SQ8, Switch Problem Behind the Issue

Had the same wiper blade issue last month on my 2020 S7. The initial diagnostic revealed problems beyond just the switch, turned out the wiring harness connecting the windshield wipers control module was damaged. Independent shop found corroded pins in the main connector and frayed wiring near the steering column. The cruise control stopped working intermittently too, which was related to the same wiring problem. The repair involved replacing the complete wiring harness assembly and recalibrating the wiper control module. This was definitely not a quick fix, the dashboard needed partial disassembly to access all connection points. While this sounds complex, its actually a known issue with this wiring configuration. Would recommend having a certified shop handle it since they need specialized diagnostic tools to properly reset the system after repair. The car wipers now work perfectly in all modes and speeds. Its worth noting this was indeed a serious electrical issue that could have led to other problems if left unaddressed.

Thanks for sharing that experience. Great to hear it got sorted in the end. My SQ8 had similar symptoms with failed wipers and steering column electrical issues. Had it fixed about 6 months ago but wondering what you ended up paying for the complete repair? Curious if prices have changed since then. Also, have you noticed any other electrical quirks pop up since getting it fixed?

Had the repair done last week and the wiper switch issue got fully resolved. The mechanic found a damaged cable connection near the steering column that was causing the wiper motor to malfunction. Total cost came to 95 Euro for the repair work, which seems reasonable compared to what others have mentioned. No other electrical problems since the fix, the turn signal and cruise control are working perfectly. The shop did a thorough check of the entire wiper system while they had it open, which gave me peace of mind. They mentioned these connection issues are fairly common but straightforward to fix once properly diagnosed. The wipers now work flawlessly in all modes and speeds. Much simpler fix than initially expected, thankfully did not need a complete wiring harness replacement like in some cases.

I took my SQ8 to a local certified shop last week after reading through these replies. The mechanic found exactly what was described, a faulty wiring harness connection near the steering column. They had to partially disassemble the dash to access the rain sensor module and related components. Total repair cost was 780 Euro, which included replacing several corroded connectors and a section of the wiring harness. Also had them do a complete system diagnostic to check for any other potential electrical issues. The windshield wipers are now working perfectly in all weather conditions and speeds. The shop completed everything in about 4 hours, which was faster than expected. No other electrical problems have shown up since the repair. Definitely worth getting it properly fixed rather than trying temporary solutions that could lead to bigger issues down the road.
