Defective exterior mirror heating on Toyota Camry 2009 - experience reports wanted
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Toyota Camry owner from 2009 is experiencing issues with the exterior mirror not defrosting properly and suspects a defect in the mirror or its heater. A similar issue was shared by another individual with a Toyota Corolla, where the problem was traced to a faulty cable connection rather than the heater itself. The solution involved a mechanic replacing the cables after removing the door panel, which resolved the issue. This suggests that checking the cable connections might be a viable first step in addressing the problem.

Hello, thanks for the quick reply! It's good to know that it was just a cable problem and not the whole heater. Can you remember how much you paid for the repair? Has anything else happened with the mirror since then or is everything going well? Best regards!

Hi, no problem, happy to help. I remember that the repair cost me 155€, the main problem was the cable connection/plug. But since I've been to the mechanic, the fault with the wing mirror or the wing mirror heater has been fixed and everything is working perfectly. It was worth having it checked because I had no more problems afterwards. Best regards!

Hi, great, thanks for the info! I'm glad you haven't had any further problems since the repair. That gives me confidence that I can tackle it without having any more hiccups. 155€ seems reasonable to fix the problem. Thanks again for your help! Best regards,

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Toyota Corolla (built in 2006, diesel, 195,000 km driven). On my car it was actually the cable connection to the wing mirror that was faulty, so a plug problem and not a heater as you suggest. So I went to the garage and the guys had to remove the door panel to check the cable connection. They then replaced the cables and since then the mirror has worked perfectly again. It wasn't a huge problem, but certainly nothing you could fix yourself if you didn't know exactly what you were doing. Hope this helps you! Best regards!
