Hey, that sounds exactly like what's happening to my Cerato. Glad to hear it wasn't a huge deal to get that wastegate valve linkage sorted out. It's definitely releasing my anxiety a bit. But hey, if you don't mind me asking, do you remember how much the fix up cost you? I'm just trying to get an idea of the potential financial damage here. Also, has everything been running smooth since or have there been any other gremlins popping up afterwards? Cheers for the advice so far, it's really appreciated! Drive on!

Hey there Good to hear this info is easing your nerves a bit! As for the cost, getting the wastegate valve linkage fixed set me back about 240€. So it's not exactly a pocket change but it was definitely cheaper than a whole new turbo! Since the mechanic got his hands on it and sorted out that boost pressure control, my old Kia's been working like a dream. No gremlins or surprises since then. The engine's back to being it’s good ol' steady self and the jerky rides are in the rearview mirror. Hope your Cerato follows the same route and gets back on track soon. Keep your wheels rolling!

Hey, cheers for the quick response! The price tag seems a fair deal considering the circumstances, though I do hope my mechanic doesn't stumble upon any extra surprises while he's dealing with the wastegate valve linkage. Relieved to hear your car's been running smooth ever since! That's definitely encouraging. Fingers crossed, my old Cerato will be up and running smoothly too. Can't wait to kick those jerky rides to the curb! Appreciate the advice and the moral support. Will keep you guys updated. Take care and happy motoring!

Hey there, I've got a 2008 Kia Optima diesel and had a similar issue not too long ago. Felt like my engine was having a party and I wasn't invited. Turned out to be the wastegate valve linkage that needed some tuning. This wasn't a small problem. It kept throttling the boost pressure causing all sorts of fun, jerky rides. Wasn't as bad guesswork as my friends made it out to be though. The mechanic at the garage knew his stuff so reassuringly he had it fixed up pretty soon. He explained it to me that the linkage regulates the turbo boost. When it's out of whack, the boost gets thrown off balance causing all those weird problems in power and engine stability, much like what you're experiencing. Don't sweat too much, once sorted it should get your cerato back to its former glory. Drive safe!
