Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Your story sounds pretty similar to mine, so that worries me a bit. Do you happen to remember how much all that fun cost you back then? And has anything else like that come up since then? Hopefully it stayed with you with this one problem! Thanks again for your help!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! So, to your question, it cost me €165 to fix the parking switch wiring. Since I went to the mechanic, the automatic transmission parking switch has been fixed and is now running like a dream again. So far everything is fine, no other problem has cropped up (knock on wood!). Hope this helps you and you're just as lucky!

165 €, that's not as bad as I feared! Your words have eased some of my worries. I will definitely go to the mechanic and have the automatic transmission parking position switch checked. Hopefully everything will go as smoothly for me as it did for you and I won't have any more problems (yes, I'm knocking on wood!). Thanks again for your useful advice!

Hi buddy, I had a similar situation with my 2009 BMW 5 Series. I had about 148,500 km on the odometer when my car started making strange noises and the gearshift started to click. Instead of a warning light, my entire instrument panel was flashing like a Christmas tree. I was lucky that my buddy is a mechanic and took care of the problem. It turned out that it was actually a serious problem - the automatic transmission was shot and I had to have everything replaced. It wasn't an easy thing to do, but luckily I noticed it in time and was able to avoid worse. Hope this helps you. Let us know how it goes for you!
