Difficulty starting and flickering lights on 2017 Benz GLA, petrol engine, 92541 km
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The 2017 Benz GLA is experiencing difficulty starting and flickering lights, which could indicate an undervoltage issue. A similar problem was encountered with a 2014 Benz GLK, where the battery was found to be defective and needed replacement. This solution resolved the issue long-term. It's recommended to consult a mechanic to avoid the risk of a breakdown. Other unrelated issues discussed include a malfunctioning blind spot assistant, defective control unit, and problems with interior lights and power windows.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Could you happen to remember how much you paid for the replacement? And has anything similar happened again since then? I'm just trying to estimate how much I should budget for the repair and if it's a long term solution. Thanks again!

Sure, no problem! I paid around 290 euros to repair the battery, which was completely flat and faulty. Since I went to the mechanic and the problem with the low voltage in the vehicle was solved, everything has been running smoothly again, nothing similar has happened again. So it was definitely a long-term solution. I have to admit that it was quite a relief to have that off the table. So I'd say budget around 300 euros to be on the safe side. Hope that helps you!

Hey, thank you! That sounds like a cheaper solution than I expected. It's reassuring to hear that your problem didn't recur after replacing the battery. I think I'll make an appointment with my mechanic in the near future. It's not worth the risk of getting stuck somewhere. Your information was really helpful, thanks again!

The blind spot assistant does not work but is not displayed, e.g. which radar sensor is defective.

Hello, What kind of vehicle are you driving exactly? Have you saved a fault memory entry for the blind spot system in general?

Hello, The fault code you describe should be related to the seat belt tensioners/tensioners. As a rule, this should be controlled by the airbag control unit (work on the airbag system may only be carried out by trained specialists!) However, the error code indicates that the control unit has not been correctly taught/coded to the vehicle. Please let us know what steps you have taken.

Could it be due to the error that there is no more warm air or the air conditioning control fails?

It's unlikely that the issue with your seat belt tensioners would affect your vehicle's heating or air conditioning system. These systems are generally separate. If you're experiencing issues with your heating or air conditioning, it could be due to a variety of reasons such as a malfunctioning thermostat, a problem with the blower motor, or a leak in the AC system. I would recommend having these systems checked by a professional. Please let us know how it goes.

Hey, had a similar problem with my 2014 Benz GLK. The lights were also dim and the car had trouble starting. Turned out the battery was broken, dead/defective as you say. I went to the garage and they had to replace the battery. Wasn't a huge hassle, but definitely something that shouldn't be ignored, otherwise you run the risk of breaking down somewhere. Hope that helps you!
