DMax ABS Lateral Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Chevrolet DMax owner experienced an ABS light issue, with a scanner indicating a lateral acceleration sensor fault. After checking the wiring without resolution, it was suggested to also inspect the steering angle sensor, as issues with these sensors can be interconnected. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed the lateral acceleration sensor was defective, and replacing the control unit resolved the problem.

Steering angle sensor? I haven't checked that specifically. Is that something that usually goes hand-in-hand with the lateral acceleration sensor? Where is it located, and is it easy to test?

Yeah, on the Volvo, a faulty lateral sensor messed with everything, including steering input. It’s located near the steering column. Although it might be worth getting it checked by a workshop. Most likely the affected control unit is defective.

Thanks! I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was a defective lateral acceleration sensor. Cost me about 1000€ to replace the control unit. At least it's fixed now!

Sounds familiar. I had similar ABS issues with my old Volvo V70 – also a yaw rate sensor problem. The stability control went haywire. Was the steering angle sensor checked?
