No, the electric fan doesn't turn on, as far as I can tell. What exactly does that plug do? How can I verify that this is the reason?

The plug connects the fan motor to the power supply. If the fan doesn't run at all and the plug isn't connected to the fan or has corroded contacts, it won't work. You'll need to check the cable and the plug of the fan motor or visit the workshop.

Thanks, the defective plug was indeed the problem. Fixed it at the workshop. Repair cost 95€.

Sounds like a faulty electric fan. When the engine overheats, does the electric fan turn on at all? If not, then it is likely a defective plug.
