DMax Transmission Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Chevy DMax diesel is experiencing transmission issues, including slipping, rough shifting, and grinding noises, with check engine and transmission lights on. The problem is suspected to be a defective torque converter, specifically the lock-up clutch inside it. The suggested solution is to have the torque converter checked and potentially replaced at a workshop.

Was the torque converter the actual problem?

Yeah, that's what they're saying. Seems like the lock-up clutch inside the torque converter is defective. They quoted me around 2120€. Did you have the grinding noise too? How was it fixed?

Yep, grinding noise too. Sadly, it was the torque converter in my case as well. Best to get it checked at a workshop. Ugh, that's what I feared. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Looks like I'm heading to the shop. At least now I know what to expect. Thanks!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar experience with my DMax. Same symptoms – lights, rough shifting, the works.
