Doblo Battery Discharging

Hi, I've got a 2007 Fiat Doblo, diesel engine, with 167478 km on the clock. Recently, the battery keeps discharging heavily. I'm getting an error message in the speedometer, the lights are weak and flickering, and there's an error stored in the error memory. Starting the engine is a struggle too, the battery feels weak. I've checked the battery terminals, they seem clean. Any ideas?

That sounds suspiciously like a defective battery sensor. I had similar issues with my old Mercedes C-Class. Discharged battery, error messages popping up. Have you checked the battery sensor?

The battery sensor... where exactly is that located, and is it something I can easily check myself?

It's usually attached directly to the battery or nearby in the electrical system, but diagnosing it properly often requires specialized tools to read the sensor data. Given the symptoms and the potential for electrical gremlins, I would strongly advise a workshop visit. A defective sensor can play havoc with the entire electrical system.

Thanks for the insight. Took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – defective battery sensor. Repair cost me 315€. All good now!
