Thanks for explaining your Dodge Dart repair experience. Its really helpful since my Caliber is showing similar seat adjustment problems. Did you happen to remember what the total repair cost was? Also curious if the seat wiring fix solved everything or if you noticed any other electrical issues popping up afterward. My cars been acting a bit strange with other electronics too, so wondering if the seat harness might be connected.

Good news, got the Dodge Dart seat issue fully resolved. The seat motor problem turned out to be linked to a heavily discharged battery, which was causing the electrical system to malfunction. After replacing the battery for 290€, the seat adjustment system started working perfectly again. The seat wiring harness and electrical components were thoroughly checked during the repair. The continuous power drain from the faulty seat system had been putting excessive strain on the battery. Once fixed, all other electrical quirks disappeared too. For anyone facing similar issues: faulty seat adjustment systems can cause widespread electrical problems. The seat motor and seat switch diagnostics should be part of any complete electrical system check when these symptoms appear. All electrical functions are now working as they should, no more unusual issues with the seat adjustment or other components. The repair cost was reasonable considering it resolved both the battery and seat wiring problems simultaneously.

Finally got my Caliber fixed yesterday. The mechanic found the passenger seat motor was completely burned out and had damaged the wiring. Total repair came to 450€ including a new seat adjustment system and rewiring work. What a relief, the check engine light is now off and all electrical systems are working properly. They showed me the old seat motor and it was pretty badly corroded. Apparently moisture had gotten into the electrical connections over time. Definitely worth getting it done properly rather than trying cheaper fixes. The automotive seat repair took about 4 hours but solved all the unusual electrical issues I was having. The new seat adjustment controls work smoothly now, no more strange noises or inconsistent movement. Thanks for the advice. Would have spent way more time and money troubleshooting without your input on the seat motor symptoms.

Had the same issue on my 2014 Dodge Dart. The electric seat stopped responding and triggered the check engine light. The main problem was a faulty seat motor combined with a damaged wiring harness under the seat. The repair involved: Testing the seat adjustment switch first, Removing the entire seat to access the electrical components, Replacing the seat motor assembly, Installing a new wiring harness, Clearing the error codes It was a serious repair since the seat had to be completely dismantled. The damaged wires were causing a constant power drain, which explained the battery issues some people experience with failing seat motors. What usually happens is the seat motor draws excessive current when failing, which triggers the vehicle systems to flag an error code. The constant power draw can also affect other electrical components if left unrepaired. Worth checking the fuse box first, but based on the error codes your mechanic found, it sounds like the automotive seat system needs professional attention. The electric seat mechanisms in these models are known to develop issues around the 130000-150000 km mark.
