Last service was done at 85786 km. Thanks for the detailed response. Yes, the failure was sudden and the error code is P0073. There are no unusual sounds when adjusting fan speeds, just complete silence. The HVAC system is totally unresponsive. Based on your experience, it does sound like my blower motor has failed. Good to know the repair costs to expect. I will need to get this fixed soon since driving without proper cabin ventilation is becoming a real issue, especially on longer trips. Would you recommend checking anything else before taking it to a shop, or should I go straight to having the blower motor replaced?

Thanks for providing those details. Given the symptoms match exactly what I experienced in my Durango, sudden failure, complete silence, and no response, I am even more convinced we are dealing with the same blower motor issue. The P0073 code typically relates to ambient temperature sensor circuits, but in my case, this error appeared alongside the failed cabin fan because the electrical wiring connects through related systems. Since you also have a sudden, complete failure with no noise, checking further components yourself probably will not reveal much. The blower motor location requires removing several dashboard components to access, making it impractical for most DIY repairs. My recommendation based on going through this: Go directly to a shop for repair, Request they inspect the electrical wiring connections while the area is accessible, Have them check the blower motor resistor during replacement, Get them to clear all error codes after repair The air conditioning and heating system worked flawlessly after my repair, and the error codes never returned. While 365€ felt steep at the time, having proper cabin ventilation is worth the investment, especially for longer drives as you mentioned.

Based on your feedback and what I learned from my Journey, I will schedule a repair appointment this week. Makes sense that both the blower motor and electrical connections should be checked while they have everything opened up. The total repair cost of 365€ seems reasonable considering the work involved. You are right that proper climate control is essential, I had no idea how much I relied on it until it stopped working. Will make sure they inspect the fan speed controller and related wiring while replacing the blower motor. Good to hear your repair solved the problem completely. Hoping for the same outcome with my Journey. Thanks again for sharing your experience, really helped confirm what I was suspecting about the blower motor being the core issue.

As the owner of a 2012 Dodge Durango diesel, I dealt with an identical heater fan problem last winter. Based on my experience working on basic car maintenance, this sounds very similar. The air circulation in my Durango completely stopped, no response from any fan speed settings. After checking fuses like you did, I took it to a workshop since electrical wiring issues can get complex. Their diagnostic showed a failed blower motor, which explained the total lack of air flow. The repair involved: Removing dashboard components to access the blower motor, Installing new motor unit, Testing electrical connections, Verifying proper air circulation at all speeds Total cost was 365€ including parts and labor. The blower motor itself was about half that amount. To help diagnose your specific case: Which error code is stored? Do you hear any noise when switching fan speeds? When did the problem start, sudden or gradual failure? Any unusual sounds before it stopped? This information would help determine if your Journey has the same blower motor issue or potentially different electrical problems.
