DPF Issues Plague Panamera: AdBlue Tank the Culprit?

Hey everyone, my 2016 Panamera Diesel is acting up. The check engine light came on, and I'm getting DPF regeneration failures along with a warning light in the speedo. I suspect it might be related to the AdBlue tank being empty, but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone dealt with similar issues? I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially how your workshop resolved it and what the actual problem turned out to be. Any tips would be super helpful.

Hi there! I've got some experience with diesel cars and had a similar issue with my 2015 Porsche Cayenne Diesel. Had the exact same symptoms, check engine light and DPF warnings. Turned out it was just low AdBlue, like you suspected. Took it to my regular workshop, they topped up the AdBlue and reset the system. Cost me around 65€ and the problem was solved. Which warning messages exactly are you seeing? Also, when's the last time you had your AdBlue filled? This info would help me confirm if we're dealing with the same issue. Quick tip: don't drive it too long with these warnings, as it might limit your engine performance.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My mileage is at 71,158 KM and I'm getting the "Emissions control malfunction" warning along with the DPF light. Haven't had my AdBlue topped up since my last service, which was about 7,000 KM ago. Really hoping it's just the AdBlue like in your case, seems like a straightforward fix. I'll get it checked out this week to be on the safe side.

Hey again! Thanks for those additional details about your Panamera. Yeah, those symptoms sound exactly like what I experienced with my Cayenne. With the mileage you mentioned and 7,000 km since the last AdBlue top-up, I'm even more convinced it's the same issue I had. Just to share a bit more from my experience, when my AdBlue got low, I first got the "Emissions control malfunction" warning too. The DPF light coming on together with it is pretty typical when the AdBlue system isn't working properly. In my case, I actually waited a couple days before getting it sorted (not recommended!) and the car started limiting performance, bit of a pain! Quick tip based on what I learned: for our Porsches, it's good practice to check the AdBlue level every 5,000 km or so. Since my incident, I've been keeping a closer eye on it and haven't had any issues since. Keep us posted on how it goes after you get it checked! I'm betting 65€ and an AdBlue top-up will sort you out, just like it did for me. Good call on getting it checked this week, better safe than sorry with these things.

Really appreciate your detailed response and the tip about checking AdBlue levels every 5,000 km! You're right, it's better to be proactive about these things. I actually just called my local workshop and they can fit me in tomorrow morning. They quoted me roughly the same price you mentioned, which is a relief, I was worried it might be something more serious! I'll definitely start monitoring the AdBlue levels more regularly after this wake-up call. Will update the thread once it's sorted, but feeling much more confident now knowing your Cayenne had the same issue and it was such a simple fix. Thanks again for all your help!
