Hi friends, I have a strange problem with my 2011 Skoda Yeti Diesel. The check engine light is on, I've noticed a loss of power, strong exhaust smell and I can't regenerate the DPF. I think it could be due to a heavily loaded diesel particulate filter, but I'm not sure. Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Octavia Skoda Diesel, almost the same model, just 2 years younger. I'm not a mechanic, but I can tell you briefly how it went for me. After my check engine light came on, I took my car to my regular garage. The guys there said that the diesel particulate filter was defective inside. Therefore, the DPF could not be regenerated. The repair cost me 1550 euros. But without precise details of the faults you have in your car, it's a bit difficult to give you specific advice. How many kilometers does your car have on it? What warning messages are displayed? Have to say, it would be helpful if you could give a little more info. Then I could give more useful advice if necessary. Hope this helps you for now!

Hey, thanks for your answer. My Yeti has 146445 km on it. The warning messages show "engine malfunction", "DPF regeneration necessary" and the blower also seems to be running. The exhaust smells very strong and fuel consumption is increasing. Your experience with the faulty DPF seems quite similar to what I am experiencing. Hey, with your Yeti and the mileage you mentioned, your guess could be really close to the truth. It was the same for me with my Octavia. It all sounds very familiar. Well, what your garage will obviously do is read out the fault memory first. In my case, they carried out a diagnosis and sure enough, the DPF was the culprit. There were simply too many ash particles in the filter and the regeneration could not be completed. The high cost in my case was because the filter had to be replaced. It may be an expensive fix, but I wouldn't recommend you just ignore it. A broken DPF can lead to serious engine damage, and that can be even more expensive. It's also better for the environment. Hope it works as well for you as it did for me! Keep your fingers crossed!
