DPF regeneration fault and warning light on Peugeot 208 Diesel: Possible causes and solutions

Hello everyone, I'm worried about my Peugeot 208 Diesel from 2012 with a mileage of just under 80,000 KM. The indicator light is on, the DPF regeneration is not working and there is a warning light in the speedometer. I suspect the problem could be with the Ad-Blue tank. Has anyone had similar problems and experiences with their mechanic? My last visit to the garage wasn't exactly encouraging. Really grateful for any advice!

Summary of the thread

A Peugeot 208 Diesel from 2012 is experiencing a DPF regeneration fault and a warning light on the speedometer. The suspected cause is an issue with the Ad-Blue tank, potentially involving faulty sensors and the control unit, which can lead to communication problems between the ECUs. It is advised to have the vehicle checked by a mechanic promptly to prevent further damage to the ECUs and ensure the car's safety.

Hi mate, I totally feel you. My 2015 Peugeot 308 diesel had the same problem last year. It showed sporadic faulty communication between the ECUs. In fact, as you suspected, it was also the ad-blue tank. On my car, the sensors and the control unit of the Ad-Blue tank were to blame. They had problems with the connection, which caused the indicator light to come on. My mechanic had to replace the sensors and the control unit. It was definitely a serious issue. If you don't get it sorted out, the ECUs can suffer irreparable damage and that would then cause even more problems. So yes, I would strongly recommend you take your Peugeot to the garage as soon as possible and get that checked out. At the end of the day, keeping the ECUs running smoothly will ensure safety. I hope this helps!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply and the helpful info! It's reassuring to hear that someone else has been through it and found a solution. Do you happen to remember how much it cost you to replace the sensors and ECU? And have there been any other problems with your Peugeot since then? Your experience will definitely help me.

Hey, you're welcome, always happy to help! Yeah, I remember the cost pretty well because it definitely wasn't cheap. I had to put down €955 to fix the sporadic faulty communication between the ECUs. Once the mechanic was on it, the Ad-Blue tank was no longer a problem. Since then, there have been no further problems with my Peugeot. I hope it stays that way - as you know, things can always happen with cars! Hope this helps you a bit. Good luck with your car!

Hey, thanks for the cost estimate, that really helps! It's good to know that your Peugeot has been running problem-free since then. I will now take my car in for repairs as soon as possible - hopefully it's nothing too serious. Thanks again for your help and advice, I really appreciate it! Take good care of yourself and hopefully your car will continue to be trouble free.

Make sure your Carly scanner is updated to the latest software version, as compatibility issues can arise with older versions. Also, ensure that the OBD-II port is clean and the connection is secure. If the problem persists, try restarting both the scanner and your vehicle. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
