Visually inspected the harness and connectors; nothing obvious. Sensor seems secure. Could a multimeter test confirm connection integrity, and if so, which values should I expect?

While a multimeter test could provide further insights, interpreting the sensor's specific resistance or voltage values can be challenging without the exact specifications. Considering the symptoms, have you factored in potential issues beyond just the connection, such as the sensor itself failing? Perhaps a professional diagnosis would be prudent to rule out other possibilities.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the workshop; as suspected, faulty connection. Repair cost 95€.

Given the symptoms and error code, a faulty connection does seem likely. Have you checked the sensor's wiring harness for any visible damage, such as frayed wires or corroded connectors? Is the sensor itself securely mounted?
