DS3 Computer Fault

My 2011 Citroen DS3 diesel is throwing a fit. 126k km on the clock. The computer's gone bonkers. Error memory's full, electrical gremlins everywhere, and the sat nav is completely dead. My mechanic reckons it's a software glitch, like the control unit's programming is messed up. Anyone else seen anything like this? Thinking about getting the ECU reset, but I'm worried about bricking the whole thing!

Summary of the thread

A 2011 Citroen DS3 diesel is experiencing multiple electrical issues, including a full error memory and a non-functional sat nav, suggesting a possible software glitch in the ECU. The mechanic suspects the control unit's programming might be faulty. A suggested solution is to have the ECU reset or reflashed by a specialist, as attempting to fix it independently could risk further damage.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my old Vauxhall Astra. Different brand, but the symptoms were eerily alike. Constant error messages, random electrical failures... it was a nightmare. I eventually found out that the Body Control Module had a software fault. What kind of error messages are you getting? Are they all related to the same system?

Cheers for the reply! The error messages are all over the place, to be honest. Some are related to the engine management, others to the ABS, and a few are just generic 'electrical fault' warnings. It's like the whole system is confused. The mechanic seems to think it's a programming issue with the main ECU. Did you manage to fix yours, and if so, how much did it set you back?

Okay, that definitely sounds like a central software issue like I had! Sadly, I didn't manage to fix it myself. I tried a few things, but in the end, I had to take it to a proper garage with the right diagnostic equipment. They reflashed the BCM, and it sorted everything out. Cost me about 200£, if I remember correctly. Based on what you're saying, I'd definitely recommend taking it to a Citroen specialist or a good auto electrician. Messing with the ECU yourself can be risky!

Thanks! That's really helpful. Sounds like I'm heading down the same road as you did. I'll book it into a specialist and see what they say. They quoted me 240€, which seems reasonable. Hopefully, a reflash will sort it out. Appreciate the advice!
