DS3 Fault Code and Error Message

I'm experiencing a problem with my 2011 Citroen DS3 gasoline (around 219288 km). I'm getting a fault code, and the error is stored in the error memory. Also, I see an error message displayed in both the infotainment system and on the speedometer. From what I've read, it seems like the coding of the vehicle might be incorrect. Has anyone else encountered this?

Summary of the thread

A 2011 Citroen DS3 owner reported a fault code and error message appearing on both the infotainment system and speedometer, suspecting incorrect vehicle coding as the cause. Another individual with similar past issues suggested that merely clearing the error memory might not be a permanent solution if the coding is incorrect. They recommended visiting a workshop experienced in Citroen diagnostics to properly address and correct the coding issue. The owner followed this advice, confirming that the coding was incorrect and resolved the problem by having it corrected at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hello! I've had similar issues with my DS3 (though I can't recall the build year right now). When you say fault code, do you mean the engine light (also known as the malfunction indicator) is on? And did you by any chance use an OBD-II scanner to read the code and try to reset it?

Yes, the engine light is on. I haven't tried resetting the codes myself yet, I only had the diagnostic done. Do you think clearing the error memory would solve the problem permanently, or would it just come back if the coding is actually incorrect?

From my experience, clearing the code might only be a temporary fix if the underlying coding issue isn't addressed. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop with experience in Citroen diagnostics. It will probably be best to have the coding properly checked and corrected. This avoids repeated errors and potential further problems down the line.

Thanks for sharing your experience and advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right. The coding was indeed incorrect. It cost me around 360€ to get it sorted, but at least the error messages are gone now! Appreciate the help!
