DS3 Oil Level Sensor Fault

I've got a 2013 Citroen DS3 with a gasoline engine, and I'm seeing an error message in the speedometer related to the oil level. The oil pressure warning lamp also lights up sometimes. Plus, there's an error stored in the memory about a faulty oil level sensor signal. Could this be just a bad connection, or is the sensor actually gone?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Citroen DS3 owner is experiencing an error message related to the oil level sensor and an intermittent oil pressure warning light. The issue could be due to a faulty connection or a defective sensor. Checking the cable and plug connections for loose wires or corrosion is recommended, as intermittent warnings often indicate a connection problem. If the issue persists, consulting a workshop for professional diagnosis and repair is advised, as it resolved a similar problem for another owner at a cost of 95€.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting, I've seen similar things with my DS3. Did you check the cable and plug connections to the sensor? That's usually the culprit. Is the warning light always on, or just intermittent?

Yeah, I checked the connections and they seem okay at first glance. But is there anything specific I should be looking for, like a loose wire or corrosion maybe? The light is intermittent, which makes me think it's a dodgy connection rather than a completely dead sensor.

Intermittent definitely points to a connection issue. Could be a break in the wire that only shows up when the engine's vibrating. Given the cost of a new sensor versus the hassle of chasing wiring, if you're not super confident with electrics, it might be worth getting a workshop to take a look. I ended up paying 95€ at the workshop and they solved the issue. They can properly diagnose it and repair the wiring properly.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'll take a closer look at the wiring, but if I can't find anything obvious, I'll take it to a workshop as you suggested. Sounds like the best approach to avoid messing things up further. It was exactly the connection, like you said! The workshop charged me 95€ and fixed the problem!
