Yeah man, now that you mention it, the fan was making a racket for a while before the overheating started. Like a constant whirring sound. Is that what you experienced?

Yep, that's exactly what happened to mine! I ended up taking it to a shop. Best to get it checked out professionally to be sure, could be the fan motor itself. Don't want to risk cooking the engine!

Cheers for the heads up! Took it in, and you were spot on - defective speed sensor causing the fan to fail. Cost me 250€ to fix, but at least the engine's not a giant paperweight anymore!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my DS3. Was the fan noise unusually loud before it went kaput?
