DS3 Solar Sensor Fault and Heating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Citroen DS3 diesel is experiencing a 'solar sensor fault' error, leading to inadequate heating. The issue might stem from a faulty cable or plug connected to the sensor. Initial steps include clearing the error memory and checking the wiring. If these don't resolve the problem, professional diagnosis and potential recalibration of the sensor are recommended, as similar cases have been resolved at a workshop for around 95€.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Clearing the error memory... good shout, hadn't tried that yet. I'll give it a go. But sensor calibration? How do you even check that? Is that a dealer-only kinda thing, or can I mess with it myself? Where even IS the solar sensor on these things anyway?

Yeah, clearing the error is always step one. If it comes back immediately, it's a real fault. As for calibration, honestly, I just took mine to a workshop. They plugged it in and sorted it. Cost me about 95€ in the end, but at least the heat worked properly again. Sounds like yours could be the same. I'd check the wiring first, like you said, but probably best to let a pro diagnose it properly.

Cheers! I appreciate the info. I'll start with the error code clear and a quick look at the wiring. But yeah, probably best to bite the bullet and take it to a shop if that doesn't fix it. 95€ sounds a lot better than freezing all winter!

Huh, solar sensor fault, you say? I had something similar with my DS3. Heating output was all over the place. Did you try clearing the error memory to see if it comes back? What about checking the sensor calibration? I wonder if that might be off.
