DS4 Boost Pressure Problems
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Citroen DS4 diesel with 241,408 km is experiencing boost pressure issues, indicated by a check engine light, reduced engine power, poor response, stalling, increased fuel consumption, and whistling and hissing noises during acceleration. Possible causes include a defective pressure sensor, turbocharger, or intercooler, with specific attention to air escaping from hoses, a faulty boost control solenoid, or a jammed wastegate. A mechanic confirmed the issue was a defective wastegate valve, which was replaced, resolving the problem.

Regarding the wastegate, how can I tell if it's defective without taking everything apart? Will a diagnostic tool give me a clear answer, or are there physical signs to look for?

A proper diagnostic tool should give you some readings related to the wastegate's operation, like its position and the pressure it's supposed to be regulating. But honestly, sometimes the sensors lie, or the readings are vague. If you can get to the wastegate actuator, see if the arm moves freely. If it's stuck or really stiff, that's a bad sign. But with all those symptoms, especially the noise and power loss, it's probably best to get it to a workshop. It sounds like it could be a defect in the wastegate valve. They'll be able to do a proper pressure test and pinpoint the exact problem.

I took your advice and saw a mechanic. It was a defective wastegate valve and needed replacement. The total cost was 860€. The car is now running great. Thanks again for your help.

Whoa, that sounds like a whole symphony of problems! Hissing and whistling usually points to air escaping. Have you checked all the hoses connected to the turbo and intercooler for cracks or loose connections? Also, how's the boost control solenoid looking? If that's gone bad, it could definitely mess with your boost pressure. Wastegate could be jammed open too. I'm no expert, but those are the first things I'd be poking around at.
