DS4 Cylinder Pressure Fluctuations

Alright, Citroen DS4 gurus, I'm pulling my hair out here. My 2023 DS4 diesel is showing some seriously strange behavior. I'm getting cylinder pressure fluctuations, which is causing higher fuel consumption and a noticeable drop in engine power. To top it off, the check engine light is mocking me. I've got 162368 km on the clock. I suspect it might be a consequential error from something else. Any ideas where to start looking? Head gasket? Crankshaft? Piston rings? I'm even getting a bit of engine knocking sometimes, and I've given the intake manifold a once-over.

I encountered a similar issue with my 2018 Opel Insignia, also a diesel. Cylinder pressure irregularities led to very similar symptoms: increased fuel usage, power loss, and the persistent check engine light. I would suggest a thorough diagnostic check before tearing into major components.

Thanks for the reply. When you say 'thorough diagnostic check,' what exactly did that entail for your Insignia? Did you have any specific error codes that pointed you in a particular direction? Any chance you recall which component failed?

The diagnostic check revealed a faulty sensor that was providing incorrect data to the engine control unit. This, in turn, caused the cylinder pressure fluctuations. While it wasn't a mechanical failure like a head gasket or piston ring, the symptoms were very similar. Given the complexity of modern engines, I strongly advise taking it to a trusted workshop. They will likely have specialized tools and the latest diagnostic software to pinpoint the root cause efficiently.

Took the DS4 to the shop as suggested. Turns out, it WAS a faulty sensor throwing everything off! Consequential error, as I suspected. They replaced the sensor, cleared the codes, and it's running like new. Repair cost: 0€ Thanks for the advice!
