DS4 heavy steering and vibration

I've got a 2013 Citroen DS4 with a gasoline engine and about 97k km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed the steering has become heavier, like the power steering is failing intermittently. Also, the steering wheel vibrates sometimes, especially at lower speeds. I suspect it could be the steering angle sensor, possibly a coding issue? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Oh my gosh, I feel your pain! I had almost the EXACT same issue with my Opel Astra a few years back! The steering got super heavy out of nowhere. Is it possibly related to a recent alignment?

Thanks for the reply! I haven't had a wheel alignment recently. Did the alignment cause it for you, or are you asking if I had one immediately before the issue started? What was the root cause in your case?

Since you haven't had a recent alignment, it likely isn't related. I only asked because it did cause it for me. But given your symptoms, I would suggest taking it to a workshop to get the steering angle sensor checked. A faulty steering angle sensor can cause the issues you're experiencing. It's quite common, actually!

Thanks for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience! I took it to a local mechanic, and they confirmed the steering angle sensor was defective, likely due to faulty coding. Repair cost 195€. Steering feels normal again!
