DS4 Inlet VANOS Issue

I have a 2015 Citroen DS4 with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and fuel consumption has increased. Diagnostics suggest a camshaft solenoid valve issue, or a power supply problem. The car has 62816 km. Has anyone seen this before, before I start looking at the timing chain itself?

Interesting. I had a similar experience with my DS4 not long ago. Same symptoms: check engine light and dreadful fuel consumption. I was beginning to think I had low power output too! Has the engine been running rough at all? I'm curious to hear more.

Thanks. Now that you mention it, I have noticed a slight roughness in the engine's idle. Could you elaborate on how you fixed the VANOS issue? I'm trying to weigh options before any repairs.

Right, the rough idle seals it. I spent ages trying to diagnose it myself, checking sensors, cleaning everything… nightmare! In the end, I took it to a reputable independent workshop specializing in French vehicles, after considering the BMW VANOS solution. They identified a faulty VANOS solenoid valve. I suggest you do the same.

I appreciate you sharing your experience, especially confirming the rough idle as a key symptom. Based on your advice, and given the complexity of the VANOS system, I'll get help from a specialized workshop. The estimated repair cost is around 250€. Thanks again.
