DS4 Spongy Brake Pedal

My 2022 Citroen DS4, gasoline engine, has 227349 km and the brake pedal feels weird, like a sponge. I'm thinking worn brakes, but could it be something else?

That spongy pedal feeling sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo. Did you notice any other issues, like ABS kicking in early or any squealing?

Squealing only when it's damp out, which I figured was normal brake pad stuff. ABS seems okay, but honestly, I haven't slammed on the brakes lately to really test it. What was the fix on your Volvo?

For me, the culprit ended up being undervoltage confusing the whole brake system. Modern cars are so reliant on electricity! I'd suggest getting your system checked. It's possible the brake system has issues, or the pads or fluid. It's always best to go to a workshop. It cost me around 240€ to get it sorted.

Undervoltage messing with the brakes? Wild! Never would have guessed. I'll get it hooked up to a diagnostic machine. Turns out it was indeed undervoltage. That helped a ton!
