Thanks for the info. I haven't done a load test yet. Can I rule out a bad battery with just a multimeter voltage check, or do I really need a load test to figure it out?

A multimeter can give you a basic idea of the battery's voltage, but it won't show how well it delivers current under load. A load test is the better way to check the battery's health and ability to handle the start-stop system. Given the symptoms, a workshop visit might be a good idea.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop and the battery was the problem. Replacing it cost 290€, and now the start-stop system works again. Thanks again for your help!

I had a similar problem with my 2016 Opel Astra. The start-stop would fail occasionally and show a generic error. Start-stop systems really depend on the battery. The system checks the battery's charge and won't work if it's too low, to make sure the engine can restart. Did you check the battery's voltage or have it load tested?
