DS4 Wiper Fault
Summary of the thread
The Citroen DS4 experienced a complete failure of the windshield wipers, with a fault code indicating a potential electrical issue. The problem was suspected to be related to the steering column wiring or switch. It was advised to inspect the wiring harness and connectors for damage or corrosion, particularly around the steering column. The issue was resolved by cleaning a bad connection, restoring the wipers to working order.

Turn signals are fine. Should I be looking for anything specific when checking the wiring?

Given that the turn signals are functioning correctly, it further isolates the issue to the wiper circuit itself. When inspecting the wiring, pay close attention to the connector at the base of the wiper switch, as well as any inline connectors within the steering column shroud. Look for signs of frayed wires, corroded terminals, or wires that may have become disconnected from their terminals. If you lack confidence in electrical troubleshooting, a qualified technician can diagnose this efficiently.

Thanks. Was a bad connection as you suspected. Shop cleaned it, charged 95€, wipers work now.

A complete failure of the windshield wipers, accompanied by a stored error code, does indeed point towards a potential electrical fault within the wiper system. Before condemning the wiper switch itself, it is prudent to systematically examine the associated wiring harness and connectors for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Given the symptoms, focusing on the steering column area, where the wiper switch is typically located, is a logical first step. Are the turn signals working as expected?
